TSS s.r.l. PRESENTATION

TSS company operates in thermal spray coatings field, in Italy since 2000.

TSS capability is related to all technologies of thermal spray and more underlined, concerns Metallization, Plasma and HVOF (high velocity oxy fuel) coatings. The three technologies can perform coatings of all kind of powders on the market, such as WC (tungsten carbide); CrC (chromium carbide); Ni (nikel) base metallic; Co (cobalt) base metallic; all grades of stellites; Cr2O3 (chromium oxide); ZrO (zirconia); Al2O3 (alumina); TiO2 (Titanium oxide); Cu (copper) etc.

Thermal spray coatings have a wide range of applications from aeronautical field to oil & gas, as well as glass and paper production, or aluminum lamination. Furthermore to standard applications, thermal spray coatings are used for many other purposes such as dimensional restore of worn parts, thermal insulations, electrical insulations, anti wearing of rotating parts.

TSS is involved in all the above fields and mainly is specialist of manufacturing of plungers of alternative pumps and mechanical seals of centrifugal pumps, being the principal producer of such items in Italy, for the most important pump manufacturers such as Peroni Pompe SpA and Floserve – Wortinghton Italy.

A deep experience has been developed in the coating of turbine parts (blades and vanes) as well as for aeronautical section as for oil & gas field. Important customers such as Alitalia, Fincantieri, Nuovo Pignone-GE, Ansaldo and CIRA (Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali) have used and/or use services of the Group.

TSS has also a special skill to develop new application or new solution for any kind of industrial problems solvable with thermal spray coatings. To support these activities, the Group has one of the most complete laboratory to perform all kind of tests needed to set and check performance of coatings.

TSS is located in Cassino I.Z. Italy, at 300 mt from the exit of Cassino on the main Italian high way A1, that connect Milan to Naples, and just in the middle between Rome and Naples.

The production is performed in an industrial building of 1000 sqm with the support of 600 smq of technical and administrative offices.

The industrial capability is supported by:
  • Metallization, Plasma and HVOF full automatic equipments of last generations, operating in cabins capable of parts till 5000 kg of weight and 2000x2000x1000 mm of dimension.
  • A complete mechanical department with lathes and grinding machines for the manufacturing of plungers and rotating mechanical seals.
  • A laboratory that can perform test also for aeronautical field.

TSS has many certifications and qualification of the major companies operating in all the above fields mentioned.

TSS is also partner of the University of Naples for research and development of new coatings and new application.

  • What is HVOF coating? +

HVOF is a thermal spray system utilizing the combustion of gases, such as Hydrogen or a liquid fuel such as kerosene. Fuel and oxygen mix and atomize within the combustion area under conditions that monitor the correct combustion mode and pressure. The process creates a very high velocity which is used to propel the particles at near supersonic speeds before impact onto the substrate. One of the basic rules of spraying is that high combustion pressure = high gas velocity, high particle velocity and resulting high coating quality. One of the key benefits
  • What is Plasma (APS) spraying? +

The plasma spraying process involves the latent heat of ionized inert gas (Plasma) being used to create the heat source. The most common gas used to create the plasma is argon. This is referred to as the primary gas. (See What is Plasma). Argon flows between the electrode and nozzle. A high frequency or high voltage alternating electric arc is struck between the nozzle and the electrode, which ionizes the gas stream. By increasing the arc current, the arc thickens and increases the degree of ionization. This has the effect
  • What is thermal spraying? +

Thermal spraying, also commonly known as metal spraying is a surface engineering / coating process where a wide range of metals and ceramics can be sprayed onto the surface of another material.
